Aniese Queen
Experience, skills and expertise
With a wealth of accounting and finance expertise spanning 25 years I started my career at the bottom in the audit room of a local accountancy practice after leaving college. I then worked in the private sector in credit control and ledger departments before moving to financial and management accounting roles. I worked in temporary, contract and permanent positions in large global organisations, accountancy practice, government funded bodies, and UK based companies from small to large. My experience spans many different industry sectors and business cultures.
How I work with you
In 2008 as a Single Parent I set up the beginnings of my own practice working around my son’s sleep patterns on the kitchen table. The practice has grown from strength to strength over the past 15 years as I have applied my technical expertise in accountancy as well as my personal touch to break down the barriers between clients and the finance support to their business. I am proud that clients remain with us for many years and we build a personal and business working relationship.
Things I love to do
As I started the practice while my son was very young I have always encouraged a strong work/life balance and encourage that for all my team. I love animals and have a cat, two dogs and a horse who I love spending time with in the beautiful Essex countryside. I love being outside and I have a small garden developed by myself from a blank canvas left by the builders when I moved in, working at home means I can enjoy the garden. My son and I enjoy venturing further afield for short breaks away in the UK with the dogs where we enjoy walking and exploring the countryside. We are also known for our adventurous spirit with our foreign travels to places such as Australia, Bali, Egypt and Europe.

Experience, skills and expertise
I have over 20 years’ experience working in finance over a variety of industry sectors covering education, construction, automobile retail and insurance. During this time I built a wealth of experience in purchase ledger, sales ledger, corporate finance, banking and payroll.
How I work with you
I decided to join Queen Davies to transfer my knowledge to clients and help them improve and streamline their finance function within their business. I thrive on working across multiple clients and enjoy being involved in the whole finance function within clients’ businesses and being able to support them to grow their business.
Things I love to do
Since a child I have had a passion for dance and am currently taking tap and theatrical dance classes and to get the blood pumping there is nothing better than a Bounce class. I love being on the water either sailing with my husband or kayaking from the beach close to my home. Within my family we have strong agricultural roots and I share the passion of gardening, I am lucky to have a large garden and spend many hours enjoying looking after it.

Experience, skills and expertise
I started training for my AAT qualification in 2004. I then worked for a number of large organisations including a logistics company, an FE college and a travel / renewable energy business. I worked within the accounts department dealing with ledgers, credit control, budgets and management accounts.
After having a break from work to bring up my two children, I started helping some small businesses with their bookkeeping work part time. I found this very fulfilling and a varied balance.
How I work with you
I started working for Queen Davies in 2021. I really enjoy different clients and helping them work through their financial challenges.
Things I love to do
When I am not working I enjoy going to the gym, cycling and spending time with my children.
Richard Sawyer
Experience, skills and expertise
I graduated from the University of Essex with a B.A. (Hons) in Accounting in 2001, and started working in an accountancy practice as a trainee the following year. I completed my Chartered Accountancy examinations and continued to work in practice until 2020, initially focussed on the preparation of statutory accounts and Corporation Tax computations, and company audits.
How I work with you
The progression into my current role at Queen Davies was a natural one. I help clients with the production of internal management accounting information and preparation of their budgets and VAT returns.
Things I love to do
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, bike riding and playing guitar.
Gemma Atherton
Experience, skills and expertise
I’ve always enjoyed Maths and went straight from school to work in an accounts office in a Money Brokers. From then, I’ve gained vast bookkeeping experience, including purchase and sales ledger, credit control and payroll. I’ve worked in many industries including construction, finance, transportation, insurance and property.
In between, I’ve taken breaks to have my 3 children and have been lucky enough to find a great work/life balance doing a job that I enjoy.
How I work with you
I started working with Queen Davies in 2022 and enjoy the variety of working with a number of clients and in a variety of sectors. I love building relationships with the clients that I work with.
Things I love to do
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, live music and theatre and walking my pet dog Rosie. I also play the piano when time allows and am learning French (slowly but surely!)

How we work
Our values
Enthusiasm
We love what we do and wholeheartedly support clients who love their business too. This is why we’re committed to an approachable, friendly, responsive and adaptable way of working that helps you know the numbers in your business better.
Sustainability
Supporting sustainable approaches in our own business and for clients too is close to our hearts. This aligns with Goal 15 of the UN Sustainable Goals on protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. This is why we support Make it Wild and the Investor in Wildlife initiative of the Essex Wildlife Trust.
Continuous improvement
We pay attention to detail and persevere in helping you to set up professional systems and processes that expand your knowledge, understanding and ability to make key decisions that grow your healthy business.
Originality
We work with creative people who cherish their individuality. We ensure your business is compliant and meets every deadline, whilst supporting your approach in breaking the mould and rebelling against the norm, because this matters to our business too.
What we do for you
It’s like having your own accounts department, without the overhead
You can choose some or all of the full range of services that an in-house accounts department provides. These include:
- Traditional bookkeeping e.g. process and file your VAT returns
- Virtual finance functions e.g. daily, weekly and monthly reporting
- Running your finance systems e.g. invoicing and credit control
You’ll have:
- Professional accounting expertise and in-depth experience which often gives you a wider range of experience and expertise than from one internal employee.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to your accounting service needs, so you feel in control whatever the circumstances.
- Reassurance, peace of mind, continuity and control, together with efficient systems and increased understanding of the key numbers in your business and their impact and importance.
What clients say
Sustainability Matters
Putting our values into action
Although we work mainly online, we’re based in Essex and all the team spend lots of time outdoors, from dog walking to gardening. We agree with what Sir David Attenborough says “The truth is: the natural world is changing. It is the most precious thing we have and we need to defend it.”
This is why we’ve made financial commitments to two charities:
Make it Wild
To plant trees at Dacre Lane in North Yorkshire. To date our contribution means we’ve offset 20 Tonnes of CO2e.
Investor in Wildlife
